This 10-day Tanzania safari and Zanzibar holiday combines wildlife, landscapes and time by the Indian Ocean. The journey begins in northern Tanzania with Tarangire National Park, known for large elephant herds and baobab trees. From there, travel through Karatu and the Ngorongoro highlands before exploring the Ngorongoro Crater. The safari continues into Serengeti for game drives across open plains before finishing the wildlife section at Lake Manyara.
After the safari, fly to Zanzibar and slow down on the coast. Explore the historic streets of Stone Town, enjoy the island's beaches and keep a full day for your own plans. Detailed Itinerary

Day 1

Arrival and Tarangire National Park Safari

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport and meet your safari representative before driving towards Tarangire National Park. After reaching the park, begin your first game drive through landscapes of open plains, woodland and large baobab trees.
Tarangire is known for its elephants and also supports lions, leopards, buffalo, giraffes, zebras and different antelope species. Continue to your lodge after the safari and relax over dinner.

Day 2

Tarangire to Ngorongoro via Karatu

After breakfast, leave Tarangire and travel towards the Ngorongoro region. Stop in Karatu, a quiet farming area surrounded by green countryside and rolling hills. Spend some time at a farm stay or local property before continuing towards your lodge.
Arrive near the Ngorongoro highlands and check in. The afternoon is free for relaxation and enjoying the surroundings before your crater safari the following day.

Day 3

Ngorongoro Crater Full-Day Safari

Start early and descend into Ngorongoro Crater for a full-day game drive. The crater floor contains grasslands, wetlands and woodland areas that support a high concentration of wildlife.
Look for lions, elephants, buffalo, wildebeest, hippos and other species, with opportunities to spot rhino. Birdlife is also varied around the crater's wetlands and water sources. Enjoy a picnic lunch during the safari before ascending and returning to your lodge.

Day 4

Ngorongoro to Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, drive towards Serengeti through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The route passes through changing landscapes before gradually opening into the wide plains of Serengeti.
Continue towards your lodge or camp and check in on arrival. Depending on your arrival time, you can enjoy a short game drive or spend the rest of the afternoon at leisure before dinner.

Day 5

Full-Day Safari in Serengeti

Spend the full day exploring Serengeti with game drives across different habitats. Open plains, rocky kopjes and woodland areas support large populations of predators and herbivores.
You may see lions, leopards, elephants, buffalo, wildebeest and zebras. Depending on the season and location of the herds, you may also witness part of the Great Migration. Return to your lodge or camp in the evening.

Day 6

Serengeti to Lake Manyara

Enjoy a game drive through the park, looking for elephants, baboons, giraffes and different bird species. Tree-climbing lions may also be seen in suitable areas. Continue to your lodge after the safari and relax for the evening.
